It is that time of year again when parents across the world pack up the car with their son or daughter’s belongings on their way to college or university near or far. I am sure many of us can remember our parents dropping us off at college to move into out first dorm room; “your first home away from home.”
If you are a student getting ready to move into or already have moved into your dorm room, you know dorm rooms often times are lacking in the interior design department. However, that doesn’t have to be the case. To give you some inspiration on ways to decorate your dorm room here is my fresh look at an unique and colorful dorm room of tomorrow or maybe today.
New Dorm Room Style: A Fresh Look
I designed a dorm room to fit students with a love for Modern Design. I began will the lofted bunk beds and then layered shades of lime green, tangerine orange, yellow and teal blue. I created a space that shows off these roommates’ personal style, as well as provide them different spaces to work, play and entertain.
Essential Elements of a Dorm Room Hideout
In my view, you need three things in your dorm room design:
A Place to Sleep | A Place to Lounge | A Place to Study
In my fresh look for your dorm room hide away here is how I answer your need for a place to sleep, lounge and study.
- Sleep: Bunk Beds or lofted beds are the ideal solution for dorm rooms because they use your limited square footage to it full potential. In this case I chose lofted beds with clothing storage and a desk space underneath.
- Lounge: The simple and stylish chair and sofa give the college student options for how you want to hangout with friends. I also created two lounging areas to give you options on how you want to relax.
- Study: Since you will be sharing your dorm room with one other student I gave you two desks; one tucked under the bed and the other next to the wardrobe. This way both of you can study in your space.
