3 DIY Furniture Books to Add to Your Home Library

Before I start on the topic for this post, 3 DIY Furniture Books to Add to Your Home Library, I need to apologize for my absence over the past few weeks. I know it sounds crazy to move away from beautiful weather year round. That thought still crosses our minds every time the temperature dips below 50 degrees (actually, for my wife it’s more like 74 degrees). Continue Reading…

5 Factors That Influence Office Design & Layout

5 Factors That Influence Office Design & Layout

Office Design

It is not at all a trivial concern to get the employee needs satisfied. The actions and attitudes of employees are sometimes influenced by the office designs. This could lead any organization to serious financial consequences. The efficiency of a business could be boosted by a few simple ideas.

Open-plan versus Open-minded

A majority of business houses would assume office designs to be filing chairs and cabinets, getting them squeezed into vacant spaces, and buying fresh desks. Let’s also remember the actual purpose for which these offices exist – to allow employees to work towards the goals of an organization. It is the duty of an employer to ensure that the workplace is satisfying and comfortable for all employees, and that it’s well-designed to lift their performance for meeting the goals. Almost 90% of the employees have stated in a Microsoft Hardware Poll that their productivity gets directly affected by the design of their office space. Continue Reading…

Table lamps add personality, style, and color to your home. Recently I am finding myself loving clear or translucent table lamps. I am not sure why I am so interest in these types of lamps. Perhaps it is because glass table lamps are interesting to look at. You are able to see through them which can create an illusion of more space. Are You a Rabbit Designer…or a Turtle Designer

Are-you-a-rabbit-designer-or-a-turtle-designer

I am planning to begin a new tradition at HLM Interior Design blog by starting off each week with a reader discussion question. I have a number of goals for this exercise.

    1. I want to begin a better dialogue with you, my loyal readers.
    2. I want to learn more about what you love about interior design.
    3. I want to grow a community to learn from each other.

I hope is this will be a fun, creative and learning experience for all.

I believe all of us have difference methods or processes when it comes to decorating our homes and apartments. So for this week’s discussion:

When you are decorating a room do you do it all at once or do you decorate a room gradually piece by piece? I mean do you find yourself decorating in a fast burst and finishing a whole room in a day or two (a Rabbit Designer of sorts)? Or do you decorate a room at a slow and steady pace over a few days or weeks (a Turtle Designer)?

Or do you have a completely different method?
